Jackson Bible Church Doctrinal Statement
6. Salvation
6. Salvation
We believe that salvation is wholly of God's grace by the merit of the finished work of Christ and not by human merit or works of any kind. A sinner who repents of sin and exercises faith in Christ is declared righteous by an act of God called justification and is also sanctified by God both positionally and progressively throughout his life. All who are truly saved are eternally secure in Christ, being kept by God's power. Where there is genuine salvation, there will be the evidence of good works manifested.
(See John 1:12,13; Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; Acts 17:30; 2 Cor. 7:10; Rom. 4:4,5; 5:1; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 1:30; 6:11; John 17:17; 2 Cor. 3:18; John 6:37-40; 1 Pet. 1:5; James 2:14-26)
